Sri Narad Muni said: “My dear father and lord, master of the Universe, lord of the multitude of demigods headed by Indra, kindly tell me the kavaca mantra of Lord Nrsimha, the incarnation of Visnu. Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Prabhupada gave the following Kavacha for the protection of sannyasis he had send to the west: Sri Nrisimha Kavacha of the Trailokya Vijaya in the Samhita of Brahma 1. Everything, from the colour schemes to the forms are based on thorough research and nothing is left to speculative imagination. This is a reconstruction of Pala art as it would have been when it flourished in the region of greater bengal. It is believed that 'payas' prasad from this temple was brought in as 'annaprashana' rice for baby Nimai ( later Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu ). However, only one such site of worship still survives ! The badly mutilated deity of Nrisimha at Nrisimhapally of Nadia District in Bengal has been in continous worship since those ancient times, although nothing of the original old temple remains. Narasimha was a popular deity in the Pala period too. The temple erected by Prahlad around the pillar from which Narasimha is believed to have appeared is now abondoned and in ruins. However the original place where he is fabled to have appeared is Prahladapuri, now in Multan of Pakistan. But he is still immensely popular in the south, where political turmoil was less and new cultural influx less common. Narasimha was a popular divinity all over the subcontinent for a long time, before its importance somewhat faded in northern India probably due to varied socio religious cult movements that displaced many earlier traditions.
